Disporum Night Heron

Exotic, sultry looking perennial, with bamboo-like stems of deep purple becoming dark green. Open clusters of green to cream, narrow, bell shaped flowers followed by purple black berries. Old stems standing into winter.  ‘Night Heron’ is easy to grow in a warm, partially shaded spot. It makes a dramatic statement when grown in exotic borders, and also as a container plant. It makes a good companion plant to Chinese dogwood, Cornus kousa, which flowers at the same time.

  • Sought after by the designers, these elegant shade-loving perennials have attractive foliage, which emerges in spring with a bronze flush before turning rich green. Then, in late spring or early summer, pendent tubular flowers appear, which vary in colour from creamy white to purplish-red, and these are followed by deepest crimson berries. A wonderful addition to the woodland garden, it’s ideal for underplanting, and will look great when planted with ferns or hostas. These are big plants (3L pots) and will happily divide if you wish for group planting.
