Description
To me, in the garden at Lewis Cottage this plant, along with the wild primrose is the embodiment of Spring. Its delightful, large blue-violet flowers almost of an unnatural hue are borne in spring above unspotted, dark green foliage. It is an excellent groundcover plant for a shady spot (though ours thrive in dappled shade). Choose a place where the soil retains moisture over the summer and where the bright flowers can be fully appreciated.
Encourage plant growth by taking off the flowers when they’ve gone over.
