Description
‘Green Giant’ is a clump forming, rhizomatous, evergreen perennial with lance-shaped, dark green leaves borne on bamboo-like shoots that emerge pink, white and green when young in spring, maturing to dark green. Umbels of nodding, tubular, creamy-white flowers in spring are followed by glossy, black fruit in autumn.
The new leaves rise in early spring and a second flush in late summer. These are deep green with a purplish tint and very glossy, borne on rigid stems which also hold the flowers. Flowers are broadly tubular and hang pendulously at around 2 cms long. Colour is greenish cream
