Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora ‘George Davison’ is an herbaceous perennial. This variety features green sword-shaped leaves. Yellow-orange flowers open in the Summer from orange buds, to reveal showy funnel-shaped flowers. This variety is very hardy and will thrive in most soil types.

Description

Long, arching stems carry small, soft apricot yellow, lily-like flowers above a clump of grassy leaves. A marvellous addition to hot coloured late summer borders.Planted alone or ‘en-masse’ the golden yellow glow of Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora ‘George Davison’ will light up your late summer garden. Clumps of green strap like foliage produce arching spikes of rich amber-yellow, freesia-like flowers in July and August, shining like beacons attracting passing bees and butterflies to a late nectar feast. Named after George Davison, Head Gardener at Westwick Hall in Norfolk and who is generally regarded as the father of Crocosmia breeding in the UK. Known also as Montbretia, Crocosmia are perfect for borders, containers, and any planting scheme whether a cottage garden, a cutting garden or prairie planting. Excellent as a cut vibrant addition to floral arrangements within your home, as well as drought tolerant and rabbit resistant. Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora ‘George Davison’ will grow to a height of 90cm and spread to 20cm, preferring moist, well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Hardy bulbous perennials, they will die back over winter, conserving energy and nutrients ready to sprout again in the spring.
