Crocosmia Buttercup

£6.50

Graceful, long, stiff stems end in v-shaped spikes of downward facing bright yellow trumpets. The many flower stems sit just above a dense mound of upright, grassy leaves. Of South African origin, Crocosmia originate in South Africa and are some of the best perennials for the summer-autumn border. They prefer full sun or part shade, and thrive in moisture retentive soil. Plant the corms at least 4 inches (10cm) deep and split the clump every 3-4 years to ensure a good supply of flowers.

Description

Crocosmia x crocosmiiflora ‘Buttercup’ is a deciduous herbaceous perennial, growing from an underground corm. It has erect, sword-like, mid-green leaves topped by a gently arching branched spike of showy yellow flared trumpet shaped flowers, produced in succession during summer. ‘Buttercup’ is a modern cultivar of the humble Montbretia that has particularly strong yellow flowers. Ideally plant in a sunny position in well drained soil and leave undisturbed for several years – Crocosmia perform best when well established.
