Hydrangea paniculata “Pinky Winky”

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Pinky-Winky’ is a medium-sized shrub with attractive two-toned, pink and white, flowers in late summer and early autumn. Flowers emerge white and gradually change to shades of pink, with new white flowers being produced at the tips. The panicles are held upright on strong reddish stems and do not have the tendency to droop that afflicts many paniculate hydrangeas. A great shrub for the smaller garden.

The tiny star-like flowers emerge from bud white and gradually fade to pink as they age giving the panicles a distinct two-tone effect. The flower panicles are long, and can reach up to 40cm long, and the sturdy stems hold them erect.Because Panicle Hydrangeas bloom on new growth, they typically flower normally even if the twigs have been killed back by frost. Plant in a sunny, well-drained spot that has some early afternoon shade .Prune in late winter or early spring.
