  • Galtonia candicans is a bulbous perennial, bearing a prolific display of waxy, white flowers which dangle from upright stems in late summer. Flowers have a gentle fragrance & look fantastic planted en masse in drifts in a sunny border. Grow Galtonia candicans in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. In cooler areas lift them like gladioli to overwinter, or grow in containers which you can move indoors in autumn. Plant bulbs at 30 – 60cm intervals in early spring, with the tops of the bulbs just below the soil surface. In areas with severe winters, lift and pot up plants in late autumn and move to a frost-free place to overwinter or protect plants in situ with a deep, dry mulch. Keep relatively dry while dormant.
